Certainly, Hasmukh is not your usual run-of-the-mill TV show, sliced with humor and sleaze. This Vir Das-starrer dark comedy thriller is a gripping tale of the journey of a wannabe stand-up comedian from the hinterlands, who gets the ‘kick’ for his shows by murdering people. Interestingly, he chooses his own mentor Gulati (Manoj Pahwa) as his first victim, when the latter tries to ditch him, saying the truth that he is a bad comedian. Just moments after committing his first murder, he finds himself on the stage delivering a superb performance amid a thunderous applause from the crowd. A relieved Hasmukh finds an unlikely ally in Jimmy, (Ranvir Shorey), who runs the show for Gulati. The duo charts out a new journey, looking out for prospective victims as well as audiences across small towns of Uttar Pradesh.
