Before you start judging ‘Four More Shots Please’ for its ‘explicit content’, let me tell you that it is an adventurous story of four privileged and independent women who support each other. This is not the typical women empowerment series loaded with too many messages. The difference is, it discusses women-related issues, but the entertainment quotient is on a higher level with a good dose of humor. I had a good time laughing at some of the stand-up comedy jokes.
The characters are bold but could be unrelatable to many because of the circumstances they undergo. This does not hold back some key issues that are discussed in the series. Intolerance debates, body shaming, lesbian marriage, slut shaming, the necessity of equality – many topics are covered. One does not get an impression that they are forcibly covered. Each issue comes organically in the plot.
A show celebrating female friendships
The performances of the four leads – Sayani Gupta, Kriti Kulhari, Maanvi Gagroo and Bani J is very much refreshing. Indian audience rarely get to see female friendships on screen when compared to their male counterparts.
This series may not work for you if you do not connect with the lead characters and the adventurous and eventful paths, they are up to. But the show certainly has its moments and can be a breezy watch withstanding its flaws.
