Roger Federer to play Tokyo Olympics 2020

In what can be called as a great news for Roger Federer fans, the 20-Grand slam winner has announced on Monday that he will be playing in the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

This will be, most possibly, the last Olympics for Federer and his last attempt to win an Olympic Gold in Singles. The mighty Federer has so many records to his name but if there’s one thing he’s deprived of and was very near a few times, it’s the Olympic Gold in singles. However, he had won an Olympic Gold in doubles in 2008, playing along with his friend and rival Stan Wawrinka. And he had lost the gold match against Andy Murray in 2012 Olympics.

With Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal at their primes, and youngsters like Medvedev, Sascha Zverev, and Thiem dominating the court, it is unlikely that Federer will be able to win a Gold in singles for his country. But hey, you can never write him off, can you? *whispers* Do you remember 2017 Australian Open Final?
