The organisers of the English Premier League are facing a hard test. The most popular football league, Liverpool came to a standstill following the Coronavirus outbreak which hit the sporting world by storm. Liverpool were on a dream run with 82 points from 28 matches way ahead of the second-placed Manchester City.

This was Liverpool’s first chance to get to the top position in the last 30 years. Klopp’s men have been wonderful despite the setbacks in the UEFA Champions League. The striking prowess of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane has been doing wonders for them. Goalkeeper Alisson Becker and defence head Virgil van Dijk too had an outstanding season. In fact, they were all set to cross the magical 100-point mark before Corona played the spoilsport. Experience unlimited fun and engage with your favorite celebrities by joining FanKick’s live contests, games, trivia now.

What’s next?

In view of the existing situation, the Premier League, EFL, FA, FA Women’s Super League and Championship have postponed all games for a minimum of three weeks. It is widely speculated that the time frame may increase as it would be tough to expect the foreign players to return to England as soon as the crisis is over. Since Liverpool extends a big lead, chances are high that they would be announced the winners. However, the possibility of abandoning the league, a demand made by several clubs and their managers is also being discussed. The EPL meeting which will take place in April is likely to show the way ahead.
