Kane Williamson is a rare phenomenon in world cricket. One of the best batsmen of the present era, the New Zealand skipper won hearts for maintaining his calm and composure after a heartbreaking World Cup final against England last year. The gentleman cricketer he is, Williamson has admirers everywhere. In a recent Instagram chat with his Sunrisers Hyderabad teammate David Warner, Williamson picked his favorite batsmen of the present era.
Lot of talents in present-day cricket
Responding to Warner, Williamson said it was difficult to name one. “It’s really hard to pinpoint one player. Someone like AB — I know he only plays franchise cricket now, but in terms of gifted players, he is right up there. And a top guy as well. He’s one of the special players of our time. But there are so many quality players,” Williamson quipped.
Virat Kohli: An exceptional player
The Kiwi skipper also had a word of praise for his Indian counterpart Virat Kohli. “Kohli, in all formats, has a real hunger to dominate. He is so good to watch and play against, and to learn as well. He has set the bar so high,” Williamson added.
Virat and Williamson are also known to enjoy a friendly bond. During the recent New Zealand tour, the Indian skipper was seen engaging in a chat with Williamson, sitting along the boundary line. A gentleman cricketer that Williamson is, it is hard to find haters, isn’t it?
