Megastar Chiranjeevi-starrer Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy has lived up to the hype. In fact, it has delivered more than it promised. So what actually worked for this magnum opus? Here are our 5 reasons why we think Sye Raa turned out to be a blockbuster.
You could easily bet million bucks on the Megastar and without a hint of doubt you will emerge the winner. Decimating every iota of doubt people had in him whether he can pull off this iconic warrior’s role or not, the 64-year-young Chiranjeevi rocked the role of Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy with lot of ease and dedication. Sye Raa (Megastar’s 151st movie) will stand out and certainly deserves a place in the top 10 movies of the actor. Chiranjeevi’s acting in the climax episode before his execution deserves a special mention.
When you are the director of a high-budget movie, people will doubt you a lot. While the ones who are on your side won’t tell you that, the others will do. They make sure their doubts, inhibitions and fears reach and trouble you. Well…some can’t handle the pressure and tank at the BO while some will prove everyone wrong. Surender Reddy belongs to this rare and wonderful crop of directors. With just 8 movies in his kitty, no one believed him to helm a mammoth project like Sye Raa. But the way he handled this multi-starrer, braving all odds proved that he is just brilliant.
Music was another grey area that gave nightmares to fans when the producers roped in Amit Trivedi. But, they didn’t know the fact that movies like Wake Up Sid, Lootera, Udta Punjab, etc were composed by him. Amit Trivedi and Julius Packiam (BGM) were the souls of this biopic. One of the main reasons that gave us goosebumps during elevation scenes in the movie was music. This film might open doors for Amit Trivedi in Tollywood too.
Director of Photography, Ratnavelu has done a terrific job on the visuals. Every shot looks like a painting and Ratnavelu has reflected all the grandeur of the film with his lens. Some shots, which were filmed in the dark especially the Nallamala Forest scenes were noteworthy.
Tamannaah, who essayed the pivotal character Lakshmi gave life to her character with her super acting and dance. Her mature performance and the significance of her character has once again re-established her as the queen of Tollywood.
An incredible line-up consisting of Amitabh Bachchan, Sudeep, Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Jagapathi Babu was brilliant. Everyone had a key role in the movie and everyone did justice to their respective characters. Even the script was cleverly structured to give equal importance to each character, given their mass following in their respective states.
In reality, the unsung heroes of this movie made on the unsung warrior, Narasimha Reddy are Paruchuri Brothers. The duo has been persistent in the last 10+ years to make Chiranjeevi do this film. They envisioned a legendary hero and the effort they put in writing this story has finally paid off.
In conclusion, Sye Raa is an intense period drama which is a collective success with lots of pillars as the base of it. Special mention to Ram Charan for his daring yet matured move to produce this film and make father’s and Paruchuri Brothers’ wish come true.
