Baahubali star Prabhas is all set for his upcoming box office outing with his suspense drama, Saaho directed by Sujeet. The Rebel star became an overnight sensation following the success of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which created history by becoming the first Indian movie to gross Rs 1000 crore. This Rajamouli directorial also crossed box office records of Aamir Khan-starrer Secret Superstar, Salman Khan’s Tiger Zinda Hai and King Khan’s Raees.

In a first of its kind for an Indian film, Baahubali 2 collected over Rs 200 crore on the first day of its release. This Prabhas-starrer set another record after two weeks of theatrical release, when its Hindi version broke the Rs 374.53 crore record held previously by Aamir Khan’s Dangal. Setting up new benchmarks for Indian films, it collected a whopping Rs 704 crore in all Indian languages in just eleven days, which helped the movie earn the status of a path-breaker.

Will Rebel star challenge Bollywood’s Khans?

With Prabhas emerging as the new poster boy of Indian cinema, social media is abuzz with speculations that the Rebel star might give the mighty trio a run for their money. Film critics say that the Khan’s are slowly fading away after dominating the industry for more than three decades. Interestingly, Salman’s Race 3, Aamir Khan’s Thugs of Hindostan and SRK’s Zero were major box office disasters of 2018.

Recently, Prabhas skipped a major controversy at the trailer launch of Saaho by avoiding the question when a reporter asked him if he is ready to take on the Khan’s.

Prabhas to take reins from SRK?

Industry insiders say that the stage is now all set for the 39-year-old Prabhas to take the reins from an ageing SRK. They also argue that King Khan has lost his famous ‘Midas touch’ in last few years, with a string of flops marring his career. SRK’s last two movies– Jab Harry Met Sejal and Zero–were disasters at the box office. It will be interesting to see if SRK, who shot to fame with his romantic roles in comedies like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Dil To Pagal Hai, and unforgettable roles in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Devdas, Swades, and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham will bounce back to reclaim his lost stardom.
