All that glitters may not be gold. Prabhas-starrer Saaho’s trailer seems to fit the bill. The film, all set for a grand release on August 30, has been eagerly awaited by Prabhas fans across the globe, after the blockbuster success of his Baahubali-2.
Saaho’s trailer was unveiled after much fanfare and soon it clocked over 1,00,000 views in just 30 minutes. Going by the craze shown by netizens, this trailer itself can be termed a hit. But we should keep it in mind that even big budget movies like Thugs of Hindostan and Zero have flopped while Andhadhun and Badhaai Ho have turned out to be super hits.
Let’s wait and see if Saaho will buck the trend in Bollywood. Biggies like Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth and megastar Chiranjeevi had struggled to find a foothold in Bollywood, with the only exception being the late diva Sridevi. Recently, Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan also tried to make inroads into Bollywood with Toofan, but even the gorgeous Priyanka Chopra’s couldn’t save the movie.
Saaho’s trailer starts with the stereotypical hyper-masculine introduction of the hero. It caricatures Bollywood actors as villains. Can someone explain us about Tollywood’s obsession with hiring ‘out of mind, out of sight’ Bollywood actors as villains?
The trailer will leave you in awe with lot of action sequences. Also kudos for its mesmerizing special effects. Both look on par with any Hollywood film. But we need to stop comparing ourselves to Hollywood, but aadat se majboor. While worthy dialogues from the movie have already been made into various memes, adding to the popularity of the film.
All said and done, now let’s wait till August 30 to see if Prabhas can turn the tide in favor of Southern actors and if Shraddha Kapoor can make her Tollywood debut a memorable one.
