Amid Coronavirus lockdown, a remix version of the Delhi 6’s popular Masakali song featuring Tara Sutaria and Sidharth Malhotra was released on YouTube by T Series. The song did feature in the YouTube trending list but what is creating the buzz is that the original composer AR Rahman is unhappy with the remix.
AR, not known for expressing it out loud in public took to Twitter to share the link to the original song along with some strong words. The Maestro also remembered the new creators about the hard work which went in the making of the song. The song, ‘Masakali 2.0’ created by Tanishk Bagchi is enacted by Bollywood young talents Sidharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria. Delhi 6 director Rakesh Omprakash Mehra too spoke up about the remix culture in Bollywood and how it is hampering the original creativity.
Social media lash out at remix version
Social media too was furious with ‘Masakali 2.0’. Many of the Facebook and YouTube comments slam the makers and T Series for ‘remixing’ the original song and killing its naturality. Several users also listened to the original song to get back to good mood after listening the ‘unbearable’ version. The simple and charming beauty of Masakali was certainly missing and an original song was reduced to a few electric strings. We hope there is an end to these ‘experiments.
