In spite of all the flak that had been thrown towards Aamir Khan and team over the remake of Hollywood classic Forrest Gump, the Bollywood actor took to Twitter on Monday to unveil his first look from the movie. Named “Laal Singh Chaddha”, this movie stars Aamir as a Punjabi guy and Kareena Kapoor as his long-time love interest.
A famous quote from the movie, “Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get” perfectly reflects the present situation. You never know which Bollywood producer or actor will announce a remake of a Hollywood/ south Indian movies these days.
This year alone saw many south Indian or foreign language remakes like Badla, Kabir Singh, Prasthanam among others. Be it a trend or lack of original content from Bollywood production houses, but looks like remakes are not going to stop anytime soon.
Originally based on a novel by Winston Groom of the same title, Forrest Gump is about a man who is crazy about his childhood sweetheart. He is persistent with his love for her through so many important, disastrous, and life-turning events life throws at him. Tom Hanks played the lead role and Robin Wright played the sweetheart. The film won so many awards and accolades including six Academy Awards, including one for Hanks for his performance.
Laal Singh Chaddha, which was announced on November 6th, received a huge disapproval by the cult fans of Forrest Gump for “trying to sabotage a classic”.
Secret Superstar director Advait Chandan is helming this project, while Aamir and Viacom 18 are bankrolling the film. Music is being composed by Pritam and the movie is slated to release on December 25, 2020.
