An incredible story of idealism & courage

As crime thrillers are the new mantra on digital streaming platforms, ‘Class of 83’ by Netflix India did not disappoint the audience at all. This Bobby Deol-starrer film, set in the era of 80s narrates the story of police recruits from the Nasik Police Academy while showing their friendship and the idea of turning idealism into realism to eradicate crime.

This movie is based on the best-selling book The punishment of Mumbai Police – The Class of 83 by S. Hussain Zaidi. The movie sheds light on life of cops; the clash of egos and morals, as people learn to live and thrive in a city like Mumbai.

This movie takes back audience to the era of 80s when everything was so different than it is today.

A worthy creation of production design and music

What keeps the audience’s interest throughout the movie is the amazing production design of the movie. Red Chillies and Netflix India’s joint venture didn’t disappoint at all, kudos to time specific details. Atul Sabharwal’s direction is indeed commendable, keeping in mind the time the movie was set in. However, one may also feel that movie was a bit fast paced.

Amazing cinematography by Mario Polijac and equally good musical score by Viju Shah kept the audience seated and hooked to their screens.

Bobby Deol’s amazing comeback and promising newcomers

Bobby Deol as Vijay Singh, ideally fits in into the shoes of his intense, effective, and understated character. However, the horror and loss that his characters deal with could have been shown in a better manner.

A big salute to all the newcomers who have delivered an amazing performance and their ease in front of the camera has left everyone spellbound. All the support cast members played their part equally in making the experience of watching this movie an interesting one.
