It’s a good time to be Alia Bhatt – the girl with the golden spoon in Bollywood. It’s been really a long time since Bollywood had seen an actress like Alia. She made her debut with Karan Johar’s Student of the Year along with another star kid Varun Dhawan and Siddharth Malhotra. She did receive a lot of flak for her acting in the movie, however, from there on, Alia has gone from strength to strength.
Post a glamorous role in SOTY, Alia went on to do some daring role like Veera in Highway and Kumari Pinky in Udta Punjab. Both the roles were completely de-glamorized and the ease with which a young Alia pulled that off won over the critics.
It’s not that Alia has done just offbeat roles, she has made her mark equally in typical masala Bollywood movies like Humpty Sharma ki Dulhaniya, Badrinath ki Dulhaniya, 2 States and Kapoor & Sons. All these movies proved that she can play the babe of Bollywood with finesse and comfort like it’s her second skin.
By doing films like Raazi and Dear Zindagi, both of which have been huge successes, Alia proved that one can be glamorous but they can deliver messages too with their films. Her Sehmat in Raazi was naive, innocent yet brave at the same time. Kaira from Dear Zindagi is what every millennial could relate to and she played the role with complete ease.
The only failure Alia Bhatt has suffered in her career so far is Kalank, a magnum opus disaster from the house of Karan Johar. The multi starrer was very much anticipated by the audience as the forbidden love story but failed to deliver and hence it was panned by critics as well as the audience.
But ‘Alianators’, as Alia fans love to call themselves, can rejoice because they have so much to look forward to in 2020. Starting with Brahmastra starring opposite her beau Ranbir Kapoor and legendary Amitabh Bachchan, this sci-fi superhero movie is much anticipated. Alia will soon start shooting another multi-starrer Takht which would mark the return of Karan Johar to the director’s seat. She is also acting with her sister, and being directed by her father Mahesh Bhatt in Sadak 2 starring with her Kalank co-stars Sanjay Dutt and Aditya Roy Kapoor. After the initial debacle of Inshalla, (Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Salman Khan movie which was eventually shelved), Bhansali didn’t disappoint Alia and her fans. He soon announced another film with her, Gangubai Kothewali. And if further reports are to be believed Alia is all set to be the latest Bollywood diva after Aishwarya Rai and Priyanka Chopra to explore Hollywood.
Bollywood or Hollywood doesn’t matter as we believe Alia will shine anywhere!!!
