FilmFare

Bollywood’s biggest, oldest and most ‘prestigious’ awards ceremony, Filmfare happened last Saturday amidst much fanfare. The red carpet was laid out and the stars descended on the venue in their best.

Top favorite, Gully Boy starring Ranveer and Alia won a whopping 13 awards for the first time in the history of the event, including the best film, best director, best actor, best actress, best supporting actor (male) and best supporting actor (female).

This seems to be the season of making history from Oscars to Filmfare.

An extravagant event

The grand awards night also felicitated other noteworthy films in critics category. Article 15 and Sonchiriya shared the Best Film (Critics) award. Ayushmann Khurrana won the Best Actor Male (Critics) for Article 15, while Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Padnekar shared the Best Actress Female (Critics) award for Saand Ki Aankh.

Gully Boy also shared Best Music Album with Kabir Singh, Best Lyrics (Apna time aayega), Best Dialogue, and Best Screenplay. Phew, that was quite a long list!

Abhimanyu Dassani won the Best Debutant Director (Male) for Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota and to everyone’s surprise, Ananya Pandey won the same award in the female category. Her win has compelled people to think did they miss anything in SOTY2?

Arijit Singh, as usual, clinched the Best Male Singer award and Shilpa Rao won the award in the female category.

In all, this edition of Filmfare has hit a new low as every re-hashed Bollywood song makes us yearn for the good old days! It’s time, someone brings back those good moments of 90s.
