India defeated West Indies by six wickets in the first T20 International to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Rohit Sharma’s 40 and Suryakumar Yadav’s 34 not out helped India a comfortable chase against the West Indies. Nicholas Pooran’s with his superb knock of 61 off 43 balls, returned to form. Captain Kieron Pollard (24 off 19 balls) gave up the late charge for Windies. Ravi Bishnoi made his dream debut by taking two wickets for 17 runs in his four overs. Herschelle Patel also took two wickets, while leg-spinner Yusvendra Chahal (1/34), pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar (1/31) and Deepak Chahar (1/28) helped to shatter the battling line.
India fights back comfortably
Rohit Sharma (40) gave his team a good start before losing the wicket of Roston Chase. Virat Kohli (17), Ishant Kishan (35), and Rishabh Pant (8) were the main contributors to the victory. Bishnoi took Nicholas Pooran’s excellent catch on the boundary but stepped on the rope to give Southpaw relief. Pooran, who scored a half-century, made good use of the opportunity. Captain Kieron Pollard made some big hits in the death overs and helped the Windies cross the 150 mark. The confidence created by the entire Indian team gave a treat to the fans. The match was like a simple flow of pure entertainment.
