It was a forgettable Ranji 2019/20 season for Tanmay’s men. Hyderabad lost seven of their eight matches under the new skipper. Team Hyderabad was relegated to Plate C Group.

But, the young opener has no regrets about the debacle. He appears keen to make amends in the next season. In a a freewheeling chat, Tanmay also shed light on staying match-fit and positive, IPL contract and future hopes.

Ranji setback

It was a disappointing season. Nothing worked out well for us. It was a frustrating period. We worked hard but the results were missing. We have done a lot of mistakes too. We should have planned and executed the things well. But these things happen a lot in sports. I consider this as one off-season. We will not repeat the same mistakes again. I am happy that my team and support staff backed me in these troubled times. I am also grateful to the seniors. There are no regrets. We want to prove ourselves in the next season. I am looking forward to the time when we can all play cricket. I request the fans to keep supporting us.

IPL contract and mental pressure

Right now, IPL is not my focus. I want to do well for Hyderabad. If I can do that, everything will come on the way. You need not have to worry about anything else. I am analyzing my game a lot these days. I want to stay mentally positive, learn from the past and move on.

On staying fit!

COVID has affected my cricket schedule. Usually, I attend camps in summertime to gear up for the new season. I am staying away from my game and it is not a good feeling. I am doing a bit of training to stay physically fit. I spent considerable time with my parents and elder brother. I am equally concerned about the people. I wish everything gets back to normal quickly.
