BCCI has made it clear now! The cash-rich Indian Premier League 2020 has been suspended indefinitely in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic. The development came as no surprise after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the extension of the lock-down till May 3. According to a BCCI press release, the new season will start only when the nation recovers fully from the pandemic.

“The health and safety of the nation and everyone involved in our great sport remains our top priority and as such, the BCCI along with the Franchise Owners, Broadcaster, Sponsors and all the Stakeholders acknowledge that the IPL 2020 season will only commence when it is safe and appropriate to do so,” the release stated.The tournament was originally scheduled to begin on March 29 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. After the announcement of the lock-down, there was speculation about making the IPL a closed-door event.
